Useful guidance. Clear standards.

How Folio approaches its writing guides, examples, sources, and corrections, so you can decide how to use the information.

Folio publishes practical, general guidance on preparing a readable CV and using its editor. The website is maintained by Muhammad Mubashar Shahzad, whose professional background is frontend development.

Who the guidance is for

The guides help job seekers organise information, describe genuine experience, compare layouts, and review a finished document. They are educational material, rather than individual career counselling or a statement of what a particular employer requires.

Application instructions take priority. Employers, countries, industries, and recruitment systems differ. Follow the requested format and check any requirements for photographs, qualifications, personal details, or document length.

Original explanations and fictional examples

Folio’s guides explain choices in the context of the editor and its features. Example names, employers, projects, and qualifications in public template previews are fictional demonstration content. They are not customer CVs, testimonials, or evidence of hiring results.

The editor starts with blank details. Importing a CV does not replace missing fields with example information. Use your own accurate experience and remove anything you cannot support in an application or interview.

Evidence and sources

When a statement depends on a product feature or a file-processing limitation, it should match the current website. Statements about third-party products, platform policies, or changing requirements should refer to their original documentation where appropriate. Opinions about layout and wording should be presented as suggestions.

There is no universal template that guarantees an applicant tracking system will parse a document correctly. Folio’s review checks identify common completeness issues; they do not calculate a hiring probability or predict a recruiter’s decision.

Software and writing assistance

Software tools and AI assistance may be used while developing the website or preparing public website copy. This is separate from processing your CV: importing, editing, previewing, and exporting a CV happen in your browser, without sending its contents to an AI service.

Generated or assisted text can contain errors. A polished explanation does not replace checking dates, names, sources, and the employer’s instructions.

Updates and corrections

Pages display an updated date to help readers understand when the published information changed. A date is not a promise that every detail has been independently checked on that day.

If you find an error, email the page address, the relevant passage, and an explanation or source. The maintainer can use that information to investigate and correct the content. Please send a redacted example rather than a complete personal CV.

Advertising and independence

Advertising is currently disabled. If it is introduced, placements should be recognisable as advertising and separate from instructions, template selection, and download controls. Advertising must not require users to click an ad to create or download a CV.

Folio does not claim that a named employer, school, software provider, or advertising platform endorses this website. Professional organisations mentioned on the About page describe the maintainer’s background.

Use these guides to make informed choices. The experience and claims in your CV should always be your own.
